Old video so I doubt you'll see this but there is one thing that I think differs from classical and electric position: reach. First the scale length on a classical is already slightly bigger (close to 26"scale and usually also a wider neck too) but more important, from what I've seen from classical guitar players that actually play well, Classical music, they are *expected* to play some really wide and hard-to-reach intervals sometimes bordering on the silly. On electric guitar however, you're not really expected to maintain 2-3 voice harmonies/counterpoints or really silly wide chords (Unless you're maybe a Jazz player) since the context is almost always as part of a full band with at the very least a bass player taking care of bass notes and far more upper fret access where electric guitar as a solo instrument really shines. Contrast this with classical guitar where you're really using the low to mid range and very often as a solo instrument carrying harmony if not counterpoint then you can see why the technique is not built necessarily for being anatomically correct but as a compromise to be able to play the challenging parts: guitar position with foot stools becomes integral but I always see it as more of a being able to reach those horrible stretches and not really about what's best for bending on the middle of the instrument like most electric guitar players do.

I watched the original 2 hours long video (after Justin's reaction) and definitely got to re watch it again. Missed a lot of stuff in the first watch , it's a long and detailed analysis and is too much to digest. I'm a crappy guitarist myself and im desperately looking for ways to "work smart". Btw i agree Anton is a crazy good player. Cheers from Argentine

You always talks about technique but what about talk 'bout composition? I even would like you to analyze the technique of legato players like Holsdworth, or hibryd or SWYBRYD players like Marshall Harrison, talk about he rhythm guitar, and about acoustic masters like Paco de Lucía and Django Reinhardt, and classical guitar like Antonio Lauro. Cheers maestro.

Okay... I may be totally wrong, but this is my first time watching the video entirely and taking some mental notes on what you're trying to point out regarding techinque. When discussing recombination, in order to use it to its maximum potential, by not tensing the wrist even a single bit, the hand turns to its natural position, where both forearm muscles are fully relaxed. Thus, this would be "home" for your hand, tensing only in one direction when downpicking or uppicking, being the opposite movement a "move back home". That way, you don't tense up both muscles, increasing your stamina. You achieve this by unlocking your wrist motion, which according to you it requires a special and specific training. And since it's a very small movement, economy picking is inefficient since it requires a larger movement, therefore tensing the forearm. Any other weird or unorthodox hand position as MAB's or Friedman's won't allow the hand freedom to achieve this technique. Additionally, by only focusing on this economical, tension-free and wrist-only movement, in order to improve synchronization, the less info your hand sends to your brain and viceversa, the better. Did I get it right?

Hi Anton, I play a Strandberg in classical position with a guitar cushion on my left leg. While my ambition is to work towards playing as close to as fast and cleanly as you do - would your lesson content be applicable to my playing position? I cannot naturally sit with a guitar on my right leg horizontally like most people can/do

I saw your video on the issues with classical from a fretting perspective, but was more curious on the picking side…since the angle of the guitar/strings to your hand is altered compared to blues position

I am really glad you are getting the views man, but there is really no issue here: the players mentioned did the best they could with what they had. But now information is so easily obtainable that you see a new and very young generation with very high technical skills (musicality is another subject lol) some at the level of those established players. And I do think that those that decide to learn from you will achieve and surpass their goals even faster, since they will be learning in a scientifically proven way. I think frustration is getting in the way of some LOL If I wasn't so old, I'd be devouring your courses! Keep it up!
